Your WordPress Questions Answered By Our Open-Source Experts

Not too long ago, we decided to try something new with our blog post: answering WordPress-related questions that were found on Twitter within the trend of #wordpress. We had such a great response in our inaugural Q&A blog, not to mention that everyone on our team here at The Web Development Group learned something new, that we decided to go another round! This time, we decided to answer questions found on Quora, Twitter, and the WordPress forum. If you have questions that you want answered, feel free to tweet them to us @WDGTweet.

@lovetoclick: WordPress users I am looking for a plugin slideshow that actually looks nice. Any recommendations?? #HELP #wordpress

Have you looked into Nivo Slider? It’s a personal favorite of some of the WordPress & Drupal developers and web designers here. It’s easy to use, installs well, and provides the function and stability that you want with your WordPress site. Anyways, take a look and let us know what you think!

The following question was found on www.quora.com/

I want to replace a German with an English WordPress Version. Can I just install the English Package over my existing German one? :

This was a fun question to answer! Before you can get your site to function to its fullest in the English version, you need to make sure that you have installed the appropriate language file. Once this is done, you should be able to replace your German version with an English version.

The following question came from the WordPress.Org Forum:

Change Font for Recent Posts Widget- “I added in the ‘Recent Posts’ Widget and it’s too big for my sidebar and the font isn’t very legible. I’d like to change the font color but haven’t been able to do so” https://wordpress.org/support/topic/change-font-for-recent-posts-widget

I talked to one of our developers about this and he says that as long as you add a style to the page (usually via the theme) with the following css property in it:

.widget_recent_entries ul li a {
color: green;
}

or whatever color you want., it should work.

As always, The Web Development Group, based out of Alexandria, Virginia, is here to help. If your questions are too complicated to be tweeted please reach out to us via email. We develop WordPress and Drupal sites and implement responsive design technology. We would love to talk to you about your next project!
