From funding urban green roofs and rain gardens to working with the US Army to protect pollinators and their communities, NFWF’s partnerships match public funding with private dollars for environmental conservation at a panoramic scale. Since its founding by Congress in 1984, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF)  has supported over 17,000 projects that have enhanced wildlife populations and natural habitats in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

We introduced a new UI design that streamlined the user experience and repositioned NFWF’s resources, making content such as their Grants Library and Trending Topics news page more easily accessible for their key audiences. On the admin side, the website implementation on a Drupal 9 CMS improved the content production experience for NFWF’s team.

Powered by the Mapbox API, their Where We Work map showcases geocoded locations and details of all NFWF’s projects, filtered by the organization, program, state and year — illustrating the international reach of their conservation efforts.

Digital Ecosystem

Responsive content layouts position NFWF as a results-producing grantmaker and policy gamechanger, known for collaborations that catalyze conservation issues. Showcasing striking photography and video enhances projects, highlights partnerships, and contextualizes programs. These moving images carry a narrative that moves audiences to action, helping NFWF create a better future for our world.

The website needed to bring the championing cause of NFWF — animals and their natural homes — to life with lush photography and immersive video. From the Great Lakes to the Chesapeake Bay, from the migrations of the monarch butterfly to the mule deer, the new NFWF.org emphasizes the global reach of their world-saving initiatives that generate more than half a billion dollars of conservation impact annually.
